Take advantage of this opportunity to stroll through ten beautiful private gardens which will impress and inspire you. All ten gardens, ranging from large, century old gardens to smaller, newer ones, are within a few miles of Banksia; seven are within a short walk of each other. Large or small, old or new, sunny or shady, formal or natural, the gardens on this tour are guaranteed to fill you with design ideas for your own garden. Master Gardeners will be on hand in the gardens to answer your questions. Courtesy of the City of Aiken, a trolley will be available for those who do not wish to drive.
While in the gardens, be sure to visit the special Bonsai display and the booths of the Bluebird Society, Camellia Society, Bee Keepers Society, Ikebana Society, Orchid Society, Rose Society, and Master Gardeners.
On Friday, author Tom Poland will be in a garden signing two of his books, "Georgialina, A Southland As We Know It" and "Classic Carolina Road Trips". Bring your copy if you already have one, or purchase them from Mr. Poland in the garden. You can read more about Mr. Poland and these books on the Activities page of this website.
On Saturday afternoon, Mr. Pearl Fryar will be in a garden signing the must-have book "Outstanding American Gardens" in which his topiary garden in Bishopville, SC is featured. An Aiken Garden Show volunteer will be in the garden to assist you with your purchase of this beautiful book. You can read more about Mr. Fryar and the book on the Activities page of this website.
Several gardens will have seating for those who wish to purchase a box lunch at Banksia and enjoy it in a peaceful garden setting. Your program will indicate which gardens have available seating.
Cameras are allowed in the gardens but smoking, strollers, and pets are not. Please wear flat walking shoes. Watch steps and uneven surfaces as you visit the gardens. The Aiken County Historical Museum, Aiken Garden Club Council, its member clubs, and the owners of properties on the Aiken Garden Show tour are not liable for any accident or damages occurring on the tour.
